Uh, so, isn't this full length on Mille Plateaux by Makesnd and called 'Cassette'? Just confused why people are so meticulous with all the different aliases of RDJ, Uwe Schmidt, et al and yet refer to this uniformly as SND's 'Makesnd cassette'..? Actually, have I just got it completely wrong? Is the full title indeed 'Makesnd Cassette'? If so, where do you find this info? Nowhere on my copy can I see any mention of the magic letters "snd" on their own. Better throw in my usual defensive qualifier: No, I'm not bothered by what people choose to call it, I'm just wondering why everyone has made the one choice they have. The title of the release is indeed Makesnd Cassette and the artist/group name is just SND. SND have several other releases and compilation appearances on which their name is SND. Also fellow listmember Philip Sherburne did an good SND interview in the August 99 issue of The Wire that explains alot about what SND are tying to do. I'm too lazy to retype the interview myself but I have the whole thing scanned as a jpg file. Mail me privately if anyone wants me to email it to you. -->-Lance--- lance@inaudible.com p.o. box 450715 westlake, ohio 44145 united states --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

yep, it's a strange world, isn't it? the word 'snd' is barely ever reffered to on their 12"s too. the 'tplay 1:5' 12" has been reffered to in a magazine as '1:5' by the artist 'tplay' on label 'snd', & the 'newtables' 12" only has a reference to snd next to the fax number, making it seem more like a label than a band name. everywhere i look though, the band is reffered to as snd, so i suspect that the press releases are somewhat more explicit than the artwork. i personally like to call them snd for convenience. or maybe just because lance calls them snd & when is he ever wrong. :) ~ david --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Ok, to clarify what I was originally asking, the most important thing for me is where you actually got this information. Where did you learn that the release was called that, and that the artist name for that release is SND? Obviously that they have other releases as SND is no reason to assume this is to be catalogued as also being by SND, eg. a Global Communications release is not referred to as a Jedi Knights release. I'm guessing it is just out of convenience, as David T. said. Fine by me. :-) Michael -+- Jet Jaguar MP3s http://mp3.com/jetjag/ -+- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

that is how they are referred in the Wire interview, they say that "The file exstension 'snd' means sound resource" / __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
