What is everyone getting so excited about this guy for? I admit I can imagine myself kinda floating around and bouncing off walls during Digeridoo, Isoprophlex is kinda cool too. But the caustic window record isn't that special. It's waaay too grating for my liking. Maybe I could get into the last track on the "crumple" side, but that's about it. Too industrial/hardcore/gritty- grindymachinelike for my liking. At least I got some cool fizzy bubblegum though. And the little warning label is kinda cute too. I still think I paid way to much for them, ~$10 each, and I guess I just took a chance. Well now I know. So what else by Aphex Twin is "lighter?" Universal indicator red I can get, also the blue labeled one (I forget the name.) Also does anyone know where in San Diego to get these things for sane prices? (I bought at Off the Record in Hillcrest.) I have to admit this guy is definitely experimental. I don't have to admit I like it though. :-) tfinn@crash.cts.com (Preferred) The Finn/ VLA

I really dont think $10 is too much for an import....same as anything else. Neither the red or blue Universal Indicator EPs were actually done by the aphex twin even though many were stamped as such.

well, noone is asking you to like him. I just thing that he is still one of the youngest, brightest talents out there and continues to break new ground with each release under his different pseudonymes, Caustic Window being one of them. In a world of 303/909, its nice to hear something new, innovative, and experimental. but dont listen to me....im biased ;) -AFXFluid

select ambient works (R&S) polygon window - surfing on sine waves (wax trax in the US) you could try the polygon window CD; as it's domestic it can be had for real cheap. it has some very hard tracks but mostly it's pretty nice and melodic. i quite like it, modulo one or two tracks that are just too pounding ("quoth" in particular.) Jon Drukman jdrukman%dlsun87@oracle.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This calls for a very special blend of psychology and extreme violence.
