being someone who himself posts trade/sale lists to the mailing lists: it has been brought up _time and time again_ that the delete key *does* have a useful function... that being said, posting updates every few days is a bit much. once a week is the *most* ive done (isnt that the "official policy" for most if not all the relevant mailing lists), and this time frame seems a reasonable medium between the needs of those that are interested and those that are not. (dont hit me! ulp, uh, um, after three or so weeks, i moments ago just posted my own updated trade/sale list .... look out!) -Thad on now- my refrigerator................................................................ ........~ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

On IDM the official policy is actually that lists should be kept to around 25 lines or so and aren't to be reposted. I understood the reposting aspect of it to be altered only in the advent of *significant price* changes (maybe) or *significant* content changes (which wouldn't make it a reposting). Sale/trade lists should also be noted in the subject headers. None of this to be contrary, but I did get all of it straight from the horse's mouth (Teep, at the time) and we discussed it for the sake of clarity. Matter of fact, here's a snip from it : <snip> ME The fs/trade policy is....

HE yeah, and idm related is of course looosely defined but the 25 lines should be sufficient to give ppl a sense of what other items they can expect to find in your list. now, if you sent a list with nice long descriptions (ie reviews) then no one will have a hard time with extending the 25 line rule. and nobody likes to see the same list over and over :) thanks for asking, pardon my typos I'm on a stinky dialup... amp <unsnip> ...previous discussions we had mentioned that auctions should have one mention, period. No updates. I don't know whether or not the other lists have *official* policies. Sounds like good FAQ stuff. dahtbig wrote:
