I made myself a minidisc consisting of Gas' Oktember and a track off Konigsforst along with some Brinkmann (max/ernst), Takemura's Meteor EP and the last track on ska007 (one of the keynell remixes), calling it the "soundtrack to the millenium"! I thought those tracks were very epic and appropriate. I was at an empty beach in my socal town listening to all this stuff as the last darkness of the 20th century meshed with the light of the 21st, and despite that ghastly pretense I veritably enjoyed myself. -TO --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Lucky you - it sounds as though you got to do exactly what pleased YOU, without having to feel responsible in any way to family / friends / peer pressure. Good on ya ! For me, the evening itself passed without too much excitement - we let off fireworks ourselves and our neighbours put on a really brilliant pyro show which we were lucky enough to be able to get a clear view of. After some sleep, at 6am I headed off to Table Mountain (one of the chakras of the earth - apparently?! Never knew this, and I live on the slopes of it :-) ) and it was (unfortunately for me, solitude- seeking as I was) totally chock-a-block full of cars and people, many of whom obviously tourists. The cable cars were running throughout the night and many people had spent the night on top of the mountain (an amazing vantage point and truly beautiful place). I just drove way past the melee and sat on a rock for half an hour, observing the first sunrise of the new year. Music? In my car I had my beloved cassette of Surreal Sheep's Aural Expansion from '95. Still a huge favourite. well i happened to be dj'ing at midnite and i got to play what i wanted. the tracks i played before or around or after midnite: aphex-window licker (the party track of the year) ae-track 1 from ep7 perrey and kingsley-one note samba (the first thing i heard in the new millenium) squarepusher-a journey to reedham stereolab-(dont remember the track name) solvent-track 13 i think. (probably my vote for best IDM CD, or at least new IDM musician, of the year, fabulous, melodic stuff) all in all i got to bring in the new year with some nice music. i hope you all had a good one. and may 2000 bring us more great electronic music. later, greg davis autumn records http://www.amug.org/~jkdavis/autumn check the site for new things. frog pocket audio clips. new asterisk e.p. with audio. and also an exclusive mp3 only release by asterisk. download the first track now for a limited time. also stay tuned for an autumn records real audio mega mix. coming soon.
