This would be in regards to the recent posts about the current list and it's content, it's frequency, it's genre bending, its lack of excitement for me ( Sorry, but this method of communication seems a little dated to me)... etc I myself relatively new to the list find it far from exciting to really pay attention to on a regular basis. I'm not sure if I'm over stepping on this list or not but I'm interested in setting up a new place for us to go and share not only our thoughts, but our pictures, videos, mp3's, equipment reviews, a software update list, etc... I want it to be similar to something like a http://hypebeast.com/, or Kanye's Blog<http://www.kanyeuniversecity.com/blog/>or nahright.com <http://nahright.com/news/>. I'm not saying that you need to like the content of those 3 blogs obviously, I'm just using them as a good reference for a "cool" modern day spot to go and see what's up. I took it upon myself to purchase a domain name called thisisidm.com (This is IDM). Here is the catch, I'm not an experienced website builder or HTML guy. Sure, I can set up some basic stuff using templates, software and what not, but this blog/site could be way cooler if someone with some website development skills would be willing to help get it going. I'm thinking a wordpress.org set-up with me as the moderator with back end access for now. The idea is to have people submit material and I will post it to the site and hopefully soon enough the material is so vast that it would one day require some sponsors and a full time moderator. I don't really want this to expand too far outside of electronic music creation and the surrounding culture at this point, but I'm not a closed minded person either, so once again I am open to input. I would like to see some organized sections for the previously mentioned topics as well as a fully functioning chatting forum as well, and then one of the biggest things I would like to see is an up to date international live performance, and album release date calender for anyone wanting to participate. I'm hoping to get some feedback from anyone or everyone both positive and negative on this idea. I want to make it absolutely clear that I am not saying that I think this list should stop, but what I am saying is that it would be cool to have somewhere else to congregate besides this list and myspace. With that being said let me also say this is my first post here as well, so I'm not sure if it will be my last for stepping on someone's heels or if it will be welcomed with open arms. This message has not been sent or posted anywhere else yet either, infact this whole idea of mine is only 1 week old... Thanks for listening. I wouldn't necessarily attribute the 'medium' to the demise of this list. Remember, it once had a heyday where youd *have* to set up mail rules for the list emails because you'd come home to a full inbox almost every day. To offer an alternative medium to a group of people who already don't use the current medium to any extent, seems a bit redundant. Maybe I'm just being a naysayer, but i would think if peeps on this list were interested in discussing stuff like this, it would be being discussed already... I know with me personally, i already have a couple forums i frequent on a daily basis, even in the best case scenario where an idm forum is highly active and rich in content, my productivity cant really take another hit to become another member to something like that, which (i'm pretty sure) probably already exists out there on the internet somewhere... just my 2 cents, i mean no ill feelings, just being honest. - mkid On 18-Jan-09, at 6:16 PM, Ben Gates wrote: This would be in regards to the recent posts about the current list and it's content, it's frequency, it's genre bending, its lack of excitement for me ( Sorry, but this method of communication seems a little dated to me)... etc I myself relatively new to the list find it far from exciting to really pay attention to on a regular basis.
