I think I remember your letter, I also gave a few suggestions I think. You need to describe the noise a bit better and also describe what components you are using (turntables etc.), and if they all make noise. By the way, you can find archives here: http://elists.resynthesize.com/idm/ rb skrev:

If you're using an integrated stereo unit (i.e., TV/phono/CD players/home entertainment, etc.), try disconnecting external signal inputs if this sound is a ground hum, *especially* if you have cable TV. Those unsheilded coaxial cables are notorious for smuggling in noise. jeff

Sorry, I may be exposing myself to ridicule for demonstrating extreme unhipness for my state of ignorance about something that may well be radically Cool'n'Groovy and painfully In The Now, but... here goes... Who/what/why is Lightning Bolt? More to the point, is the answer to this question considered to be deeply necessary? If not, just say so, and I can stop worrying that I'm missing out on something. So much of our music-seeking is driven by some form of paranoia that we may not be 'in on' something, then once we're 'in on' it, the feeling is often that we could have managed perfectly well being 'out on' it. Make sense? Ta, alan --On 24 May 2006 12:00 +0100 Brian.Power@cso.ie wrote:

"is the answer to this question considered to be deeply necessary?" Yes. Alan, I understand what you're saying in your message, but *Lightning Bolt* is one of those things that you need to become acquainted with -- they are that good. I can't guarantee that you'll become a lifelong fan, but it is essential that you become familiar with them. If you're looking for a starting point, I'd recommend the album *Wonderful Rainbow*, although all of their albums tread similar territory and are of similar quality. Also, they are great live -- check 'em out if they come to a venue near you -- and be sure to bring ear plugs! cheers, Tommy Alan Lockett wrote:
