So... what exactly is the significance of a VIP remix? I see them all over the place but where does the name come from, and are they supposed to serve a specific function. It would seem that they're usually extended (and if it applies) instrumental versions of the original track, but I'm sure I'm just generalizing. Anyway, thanks in advance. I don't think theres an absolute to something being a VIP remix, But I generally think of it as a remix that was originally created For one performance or for one artist to play, rather than wide release. For example the DJ SS Black VIP has samples directly referring to SS in the track. It was never pressed for wide release, just on his own dubplates. That's not a general rule, but just an example. Obviously some mixes Dubbed "vip" do end up with a wide release, and I suspect some are just Called vip's just because it sounded cool. - cutups --- WRECKED electronic music mailorder http://wrecked-distro.com -----Original Message----- From: Alan Lucas [mailto:alucas@gmail.com] Sent: Thursday, May 11, 2006 11:19 AM To: incidental derogatory mnemonics Subject: [idm] VIP Remixes So... what exactly is the significance of a VIP remix?
