I've been out of the country or a year or and didn't realise until recently that Boxcutter was in fact N Ireland's very own Barry Lynn who I've seen play many-a-time at nights on here in Belfast, so it's great to see people on this list big-upping him. Saw him a few weeks for the first time in ages supporting Autechre and was pleasantly surprised as to how much he's developed his sound. He's playing in the upstairs of my local scummy pub tonight actually as part of the Sonorities festival supporting Sven Kônig, who's some audio/visual mix/mash up person as far as I can tell, anybody heard (of) him before? I saw Skream play a set after Rhythm & Sound feat. Tikiman and others. Dublime, west London. The bass rearranged my mind. Danced my arse off. I'm still grinning. Pinch is down (Bristol) this weekend doing a 'Subloaded' night. The proto-grin begins :-) Still, I feel the likeliest lads coming out of this Dubstep scene for *this* demographic will be the ones I mentioned: Boxcutter (on a leftfield non-purist sort of like-Squarepusher-was-to-d'n'b tip) and Burial (on a London-tweaked post-Berlin dub-tech BC/R&S/V.Delay tip). alan ---------------------- Alan Lockett (Senior Language Co-ordinator - EFL) Language Centre, University of Bristol, 30-32 Tyndall's Park Road, Bristol, BS8 1PY, UK tel: +44 (0)117 3310914 e-mail: Alan.R.Lockett@bristol.ac.uk --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Still waiting on the vinyl for this one, but I like the 12"... Bombardment of Saturn by Vex'd is wonderful, too... I'm not big on micromanagement of music, so my genre's may be off... whatever... the P-mu stable has been producing some rather excellent material lately, imho. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Loving the Breezeblock mix and eagerly awaiting the album. Also Pinch - Qawwali is absolutely fantastic. Have you tried Boxcutter? Recommended if you haven't (see previous posting). It ain't out and out dubstep, but some elements nicely blended - might appeal to a dub-leaning IDMer. Very nice tracks on the 'Tauhid' EP <http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=20658> Full-length 'Oneiric' coming this way <http://www.boomkat.com/item.cfm?id=21211> alan --On 28 April 2006 12:03 +0100 David Sim <pmxds@nottingham.ac.uk> wrote:
