Good hello, my friends. I know it's been a while since I've written with any new Mr. Antonym updates, and I hope you haven't all forgotten about me. First of all, I'm happy to say that after almost a year and a half of limbo, the Mr. Antonym album is FINALLY available to the general public! And on the Ides of March, no less! Take that, Ceasar! The nine tracks on this album were composed from 2002 - 2005, and reflect many of the influences that held sway over me during that period. Influences like Skinny Puppy, Amon Tobin, Negativland, Squarepusher, Orbital, Prefuse 73, and too many more to name. While most people seem to consider the album pretty "dark," the songs all sound quite different from one another, as there's no "formula" at work - I make the kind of music that I like to listen to, and that's been pretty diverse and fluid, changing over time. However, the album as a whole reflects an overarching aesthetic that is purely my own. There's some crunchy industrial-ish stuff, some frenetic drum-and-bass style, some dancy, crowd pleasing numbers, and lots and lots of distorted ambiences that float in and out, providing a discordant backdrop for the whole affair. Many of the songs I've played at shows for years, and these are the best mixes of all my experiments. It's released on Nophi, the excellent label run by none other than multi-instrumentalist and interesting mentalist R_GARCIA, formerly of South Florida, and now out of Atlanta. Along with myself, the Nophi label has released all kinds of great stuff, from Benn Jordan, Reed Rothchild, Colour with Sound, and O9. You can buy the CD here: http://www.nophi.net/store.htm Or, if you're like me, and you'd prefer the songs pre-formated for your cybernetic personal music device of choice, you can download the whole album from the Nophi digital music distribution service, Phitunes. http://www.nophi.net/phitunes/ (It may be a day or so before digital downloads are available.) Thanks everyone! And spread the word! Your friend, Mr. Antonym (PS - rumor has it that I'll be playing a show in Miami on March 28. Details soon!) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
