Recently I have been enjoying Jan Jelineks Kosmischer Pitch on ~scape and Belong's October Language on Carpark. And Keith Berry's A Strange Feather too, very reminiscent of Bernhard Gunthers "Crossing The River - Night Music", and equally easy to fall asleep to. Can anybody recommend other suitable bedtime listening gems ?

Carpark. I'm curious. I'd heard a big fat nuffin' about these lads till I read a Boomkat scribe pronouncing: "Belong resemble a colourful photo left out in the sun to fade - combining an operatic scope akin to Kevin Shields, with an eroded sensibility that flirts with Baskinski and shares a certain predilection with Fennesz or Gas." Accurate ref points? If so, I'm intrigued. Darned eroded sensibility gets me right here <vaguely pats area around left of chest region>

This week I have mostly been listening to: Village Orchestra ~ 'Et in Arcadia Ego' (Highpoint Lowlife) before bedtime. Kinda mmmmmellow, but not a genuine snooze-inducer. Have you tried Marsen Jules ~ 'Herbstlaub' (CCO)? Lush twilight t(w)inkling leaf-carpety stuff. alan ---------------------- Alan Lockett (Senior Language Co-ordinator - EFL) Language Centre, University of Bristol, 30-32 Tyndall's Park Road, Bristol, BS8 1PY, UK tel: +44 (0)117 3310914 e-mail: Alan.R.Lockett@bristol.ac.uk --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Somewhat accurate. Sound more like Kevin Shields' stuff than Gas or Fennesz. It's a lot more melodic than Basinski, Gas or Fennesz ever were; more 'written', less experimental, although it's not the word I wanted to use (but nothing seems to fit best). Try Slowdive's "Pygmalion", which was just reissued on Castle, or better yet, try to find some Seefeel or "Pentamerous Metamorphosis" by Global Communication / Chapterhouse. Closest things I can think of off the top of my head, but there are numerous others these days. But you're on the right track with the City Centre Offices and Highpoint Lowlife labels. Dub Tractor's newest would probably be up your alley (incidentally, it's on CCO too -- check the n.ln "Astronomy For Children" for a HPLL cue). Thanks for all the suggestions fellas - spent much of yesterday evening being (quietly) impressed with online samples of Goldmund, N.LN, The Village Orchestra and Marsen Jules. The Goldmund release reminds me somewhat of Akira Rabelais "Eisotrophobia" - a worthy addition (if absent) to yr new classical style home listening collection Greg. I also managed to stub my toe on the Mokira (Andreas Tilliander) release on Type, which may require further investigation..... Make that the entire remaining Type catalogue actually (with the exception of Khonnor whom I've already previously been bowled over by) ! Now it's simply a case of deciding which releases I will stump up the neccesary spondoolicks for. BTW Does anybody know of anywhere online where I might pick up Seefeels Quique album, or other Seefeel releases (the AFX remix of Time to Find Me excepted - already available at bleep) as legitimate mp3 downloads ?

That'll prove tough. Quique was being auctioned last week on eBay, and I do see it pop up once or twice a month on there at reasonable prices (minus $30), so it should be fairly easy to pick up, but it hasn't been officially in print for years. So unless someone buys a license, MP3s won't be distributed - legally, that is.
