Shane, you are like a time capsule ;-) Can you recall who was hot and showing signs of great promise during your previous tenure? Who has faded from the limelight in the past nine years? This list is ancient by contemporary standards. -----Original Message----- From: wownflutter [mailto:wownflutter@yahoo.com] Sent: Sunday, February 12, 2006 6:11 PM To: Shane Beers; idm@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [idm] First time back on this list since 1997 Hi Shane I think I do remember your name popping up on the idm list back in the day. This list, to me, seems less active that it has been in the past. Probably due to the plethera of new online magazines and forums. And, the artists of the day, back in the latter 90's, have gone through some musical changes themselves (or, dropped out... as some labels have). Well, I do know that the usual Warp/Rephlex stuff was talked about/recommended constantly: Squarepusher, Aphex, Autechre, Mu-Ziq, Plaid, etc. Skam started releasing stuff, as did Musik Aus Strom. I think the biggest difference between then and now is the variety of great artists and labels. In the 90s, you really just had a few good labels releasing stuff. Now I feel that Warp has very few great discs coming out, while labels like CCO, Type, Morr, etc, are releasing far more awesome stuff from previously unknown artists.
