also Luis, there is no discernable difference between
USB 1.0 and Firewire when sending midi (even midi dumps, as midi is such a
basic protocol)
USB 2.0 & standard Firewire have comparable transfer rates
the new Firewire has faster transfer than USB2, but this
is only noticable when working with large amounts of data
even then, the transfer rate is fast enough to only be important when
backing up bulk data
it's not terribly relevent for audio apps
