i saw funkstorung in san francisco last wednesday. based on the flyers
for these NYC events it seems the show is going to be the same, they used
some elements of their visualizations in the flyer. the show was quite
dancy. it was like chopped up rave/electro as opposed to chopped up
hiphop/beats. as i'm a pretty mellow person in general i prefer the
latter, but i have to say i shook my ass for a while at the show. i will
also say that the coordination between the music and visuals was quite
nice. they had some sort of note repeat linked to a knob such that they
turned the knob and the note repeated which was also linked to the
visuals, so you'd get a choppy effect in both the music and visualization
at the same time. this may be quite easy or quite hard to do, i really
have no idea, but it resulted in a nice performance.
all in all my verdict is they're worth seeing.
