Mixmaster Morris, without a doubt, is the gold standard for IDM DJs. Not only was here there at the genre's inception, but his ability to seamlessly beat-match disparate tracks from all the different sub- genres related to IDM, and make it all flow, is simply amazing. Plus he was always ahead of the curve, spinning high quality stuff that you never heard of until a few months later when it turns out to be the next big thing. I was tempted to ask him as he milled around in the bar before the Alva Noto/Ryuichi Sakamoto gig at the Barbican London the other week, but I'm glad to say that I resisted the urge. Cheers, Colin. I wouldn't know. i don't get out much anymore. I just thought of one of my favorite moments in IDM DJ'ing: Hrvatski mixing an Ol Dirty Bastard a capella over a Gescom track. it was so unexpected but worked so well. Stoically, he was DJ'ing instead of doing a live set because his gear had been stolen out of his car, just before the show! Hey! This is the set in 1999 in, um, East Village in NYC yes? I was there! Being rather shy... On my way home from a Europe tour with my band. I met you guys a couple of nights later @ the Matmos show at that downstairs bit of the Knitting Factory too. Anyway. Hi Adrian! *waves* Yes, Mixmaster Morris is da man. Current fave idm-friendly DJ would be Kid Kameleon, www.kidkameleon.com - but it's not like he exclusively idm in any way, shape or form!
