His ability to keep heads bobbing with hiphop rooted breakbeats and a large palate of sounds help keep his sound unique and inspiring. The songs flow together with rhythmic patterns and of melodies that can be playful, eerie, and beautiful. The arrangements show a mature restraint by not getting bogged down in too many layers or complexity, but they're far from formulaic. TRUCKASAURAS (fourthCity-SEA) is Ryan Trudell ,Adam Swan, and Tyler Swan of fourthCity legends Foscil. in this guise, they are pulling out their Gameboys and Midi patching them for shits and gidggles. "maybe New York is not yet ready for songs that meander through life, unafraid and unapologetic." You know, this is why I hate music reviews, even for more intelligent and "underground" music and by more (self-proclaimed) intelligent reviewers -- just too many damn words and, if it suits the narrative, outright nonsense. Why not just say that this is a great album, although it is incredibly mainstream given the artists involved. And as such, its not a particularly good _Boards_Of_Canada_ release, although it would be an absolutely brilliant release by any of the old burnt out downtempo acts of the late 90s and early 2000s. Just to restate my point, it really is a fabulous album. But New York isn't ready for it? This is the Boards of Canada album I would give my mom, because it certainly wouldn't freak her out or go over her head. And I probably will, because I think she'd love it. "like pop sensibility seen through a strange refracting prism." How about this: two producers, at the top of their game, releasing an album that would have justified (commercially) the success of their last album.
