Subvaritrax™ works by providing a mix between emotionally-poignant-yet-sonically-dense Intelligent Dance Music (IDM), and scientifically formulated, provocatively glitchy minimal techno. Sixteen musical artists from across the globe have contributed individual tracks to this groundbreaking concept and musical endeavor, among them Quench (aka Funckarma), Kero [Detroit Underground, Ghostly International, City Centre Offices, Bpitch Control, Shitkatapult], edIT [Planet-Mu], Quantazelle [Modsquare.com] and Tim Koch [Merck, n5md]. From the skittering algorithmic percussion and sheer melodic deftness of Phylum Sinter’s “Monastic Phase,” to the raging Nintendo party jam of R_Garcia’s “Honkeywrench,” to Popkan’s quirkily-funky glitched-out house interpretation, “Broken Lighter,” Subvaritrax™ delivers over seventy-nine minutes of quality, instrumental abstract electronic music from a diverse range of exceptionally talented electronic musicians. Resembling a medicinal single-dose packet and presented in a hermetically-sealed folder (with hilarious “warnings” on the reverse), the design of the over-the-counter form of Subvaritrax™ is in line with the creative direction of the label, following up the “designer beverage coaster” concept of the previous release, Quantazelle’s Coaster [SUBV001]. Subvaritrax™ will also be available in “prescription only” form [SUBV002rx]. This limited-edition form includes a CD in a transparent orange jewel case with a label featuring the “patient”’s name (customized to reflect the eventual owner) and dosage instructions on the front. This is placed inside a thin, white paper bag, and sheets of “additional medication information” are folded and stapled to the top of the bag in a manner remarkably similar to pharmacy packaging. The public release of Subvaritrax™ will be heralded at a release party at Sonotheque (1444 W.
