Some bizarre music generator from Stephen Wolfram, creator of Mathematica. http://tones.wolfram.com/about/ "When prominent scientist Stephen Wolfram published A New Kind of Science in 2002, it was immediately hailed as a major intellectual landmark. ... At the core of A New Kind of Science is the idea of exploring a new abstract universe: a "computational universe" of simple programs. In A New Kind of Science, Wolfram shows how remarkably simple programs in his "computational universe" capture the essence of the complexity--and beauty--of many systems in nature. ... WolframTones works by taking simple programs from Wolfram's computational universe, and using music theory and Mathematica algorithms to render them as music." IMO, as usual with "math music" the ideas are more interesting than the result. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Hi Tanya, I run a site for San Francisco events at: http://www.jungle-life.com At the moment, I have nothing listed for the 19th-21st but stayed tuned because if I hear of anything interesting I'll be sure to add it. There are also several other websites to look to including flavorpill.com, citysearch.com, sfstation.com, sfgate.ccom, and upcoming.org Shimone/Justes http://www.staticbeats.com http://www.jungle-life.com http://www.boomboombap.com --- tanya pea <tanyapea@gmail.com> wrote:

I'll echo the recommendation for flavorpill, as they usually have a wide variety of interesting events listed. Unfortunately, they only list things for the upcoming week as far as I know so it's hard to use it to plan in advance. I don't really know of anything special going on the 19th-21st...you picked kind of a bad time to come! Love Parade is the following weekend which doesn't look so great musically but should be quite a spectacle (I hope). Looks like there's lots of stuff happening the week after. There may be a few locals things going on, depending on your tastes. There's a techno-oriented weekly Tuesdays, but it's usually pretty empty. There's also a drum & bass weekly called Phuturo that I haven't checked out yet. I see that Dead Can Dance are playing here Wednesday, if you're into that sort of thing. Also Bloc Party if you're into *that* sort of thing. There are lots of things listed on sfstation.com. I only moved here a few months ago but I'm happy to play tour guide.
