Perhaps you've seen the flyers around town?
The Pfest kick-off (aka "the Feeding of the Skull Commences") begins this coming Thursday, Sept 8, at the Sunset Tavern, and ends the following Sunday, Sept 11, at the Baltic Room. In-between are 4 more shows, for a total of 6 shows, that are guarentee'd to blow yr eardrums, fry yr eyes and expand yr mind, often all at the same time.
We're especially excited to be presenting Caroliner the Singing Bull Memorial in their first Seattle appearance since 1993. Many of you know that we are HUGE fans of Caroliner. Caroliner shows are like NOTHING you have ever witnessed, nor heard - they are recreating being trapped in a cabin in the middle of nowhere 1800's tripping on mouldy bread (Ergot Poisoning), successfully I might add. Check 'em out, who knows when next they'll be back to Seattle.
Also we're very excited by the appearance of mr. Nurse With Wound himself, Steven Stapleton, who will be performing a special DJ set to close out the Pfest on Sunday (aka "the Skull is Satiated!"). Steven will be around for every show and is very approachable, he loves beer and conversation.
Other artists whom we've got ourselves worked into lathers over are the magjickal Black Forest Dadaists Hans Grusel's Krankenkabinet; surrealist visionaries Irr.App.(ext.) (a member of Nurse With Wound); the disaffected noise drag of Metalux; the mud throwing tantrums of Tarantism; the walls of fury and volume from SIXES, Gerritt, John Wiese (of doom dronesters SunnO))) and noise-merchants Bastard Noise) and Aaron Dilloway (of the Wolf Eyes); the free-music wanderings of Smegma; the "what the fuh?" of Rubber-O-Cement; and the two giant vulture playing organs: Spider Compass Good Crime Band.
In total, we are presenting 33 different artists from around the US and a couple from Europe, many of whom have never performed in Seattle.
Furthermore, the Sunday afternoon features free vegan pancakes and waffles with every paid admission.
The Pfest promises to be a one-of-a-kind event. No lie.
Advance tickets are still available (although the Pfest Pass' are not anymore) here at the Electric Heavyland or at the wonderful Wall of Sound Records.
We hope to see many of you there.
More info and exact show line-ups can be found at: www.electricheavyland.com/woodenoctopusskull.html
We will also have a bucket at each show to collect funds to help out Mr.Quintron and Miss Panacea in the wake of the devastating Hurricane Katrina. For many years they've run an underground speakasy music venue, the Spellcaster Lounge, in the 9th Ward of New Orleans. They were able to escape the carnage and destruction but have lost everything to the flooding and looting of New Orleans. They are friends with a large number of the artists performing in the Pfest and thusly we would like to do what we can to support one of our own in the underground music community in their time of need.
Lastly, we'd like to throw a shout-out to all our sponsers for helping us make this happen: Sub Pop, 5RC, Solipsist Medias, Debacle Records, Since 1972, Beta-lactam Ring Records, Zagi's Pizza (best pizza in town!), Pabst Blue Ribbon, Funhouse, le vide, No Tomorrow, Resipiscent Records, Wall of Sound Records and PsychoChrist Productions. And a special "Y'r the Best!" shout-out to John Santos for designing the super-kick ass Wooden Octopus Skull logo!
