What hardware is common among IDMers? I think of IDM as more of a software based thing so it would be interesting to see what people are using in terms of software. I only started collecting within the last year. I don't have much money so I have a lot of Korg synthesizers. I'm currently using a micro-korg, and electribe drum machine, Kaoss pad, Hercules DJ console, and a T.C. electronic multi effects proccessor. How do you like this console? I've been considering getting one myself in order to get a licesnsed copy of traktor, an asio capable sound card, and a dj-style midi controller... Have you had much success with using this with other software packages (namely Ableton Live)? - xnlb On 5/12/05, ed c <echurch86@yahoo.com> wrote:

I have this too, but I only use it with Virtual DJ. There are some issues with Traktor (they only recently released a PC version of it) and Virtual DJ just works better (Incidentally, they just released version 2.10 of Virtual DJ and it's looking better and better). Anyway for doing DJ mixes the console is great. Adavntages :Having the ability the nudge the track forward by moving the jog wheels, (almost) everything is controlled from the console, including track selection etc...), proper monitor (no need for two soundcards), nice flashy lights, er. Cons: some of the buttons, especially the play button can be a bit sticky, and the overall build quality doesn't feel the best. For the price it isn't bad considering you get 5.1 sound and a midi control device. I love the concept. It can be a bitch sometimes though. Like it radomly spins faster or gets somewhat glitch when trying to move pitch up or down while playing 2 files. I have had some problems with the soundcard, it adds a tiny bit of noise so I try not to record with it. You can do 5.1 mixes with it though, thats really cool. Overall though its great for a dj set with a laptop. Just use an external effects pad with it. --- egyptian zombie robot <egyptianzombierobot@gmail.com> wrote:

to be honest, at this point i feel more inspired and challenged when i'm working strictly with hardware. in the last few months i've made the switch back to hardware. i fully intend to stay away from software for awhile. some of my kit includes: roland juno 106, vp-330, mks-7, mks-30, mv-8000(!), srv-3030d, korg 770 and kaoss pad2, yamaha dx-7 and cs-5, sequential pro-one, dsi evolver (soon to be poly evolver kybd owner), kurzweil k2000rs, waldorf pulse plus, novation ks-rack, frostwave sonic alienator, urei 575T x2, rnc compressor, a few other kybds and lots of other little stuff. -fredex ed c <echurch86@yahoo.com> wrote: What hardware is common among IDMers?
