I'm currently looking into putting on an open mic style laptop night in London - the idea being that anyone who brings along a laptop can plug into the PA and have a twenty minute slot. I've sorted out a couple of potential venues so it could be up and running within a couple of weeks. I still have a load of questions and was hoping this list may be able to help me out: Anyone in the London area interested in coming along, either to play or watch? Does anyone have any tips about setting up such a night? Any information about similar nights in London? Any good links to London forums/message boards for spreading the word? I'm also considering visuals and can borrow a projector. Any free software which will generate images from audio? Thanks. Any feedback appreciated. That's a nice idea. My first tip would be to hurry up and do it before someone else tries it! London has a night where people bring their own tunes (called CDR, or something like that I think, anyone know?). Plus numerous open deck and open iPod/digital audio player nights (e.g. noWax). But nothing like this. In this case, participating would be quite a specialist thing... maybe do a schedule of the night a couple of weeks beforehand, to prevent gaps? Depends on how spontaneous you expect it to be. More power to your cause! carl morris Plug Two t +442920190151 Al Riley wrote:
