Hello friends of the M@D list-
We have a cru of talented hip-hop producers/djs rolling thru our spot
tonight to guest on the CONSUMERS Label program of great music. Don?t go to
the Scion party over at Sonotheque because you might get physically attacked
by the Scion rep over there who attacked me at our HEFTY / Immediate Action
event at Sonotheque last Saturday. An ego the size of Texas does a person
no good. If you decide to brave the mess over there, be sure to protect yr
grill. Oh, by the way, thanks to all the lovelies who came out to support
our IA night at Sonotheque Saturday night. It was a huge, successful jam...
save for that Scion knucklehead.
take care + PEACE

Anyway, a note from our buddies at CONSUMERS...
THAT SHIT'S TONIGHT-CHESTER COPPERPOT, K-KRUZ & MIKE RAVONE ALL HIP-HOP ALL
NIGHT!
CHESTER COPPERPOT
Copperpot?s self-produced debut album Chapter 7 is the cumulative effort of
the years he spent traveling around the world. The LP shows Copperpot?s
versatility as a producer and his passion for music along with the
perspective of a bankrupt, starving musician. The CD features a litany of
guest lyricists including, Pace Won, Mr. Complex, Iomos Marad, Diverse and
the legendary Edo.G. Like his latest single "Chapter 7 Verse 3," the album
also features London emcee Braintax of Low Life Records and new
collaborations with UK rising stars Kashmere and Verb T.
here's some shit about K-KRUZ:
K-Kruz formally started making beats a little over three years ago, on an
mpc, but to hear him say it, he has been making beats his whole life. "Piano
since I was five, saxaphone since I was ten, drums since I was fifteen,
djing since, (pause) man I can't even remember." K-Kruz started making
music early on in his life and hasn't stopped since he started. "I can't
think of a time when I wasn't doing something musical, I just had to switch
it up a lot to stay interested. I guess have a short attention span, maybe
that's why my beats sound like they do." K-Kruz's path to hip hop started a
little different than most, he got into hip hop by playing it with a live
band. Two years devoted to jazz and music theory in college, co-founding
Chicago emcee Diverse's first live band, co-founding live hip hop band
Freebasic (now serving as LongShot's band), has brought him to stepping
behind the boards. K-Kruz's work started with remixing Mos Def, producing
tracks on several Diverse releases including the highly acclaimed 1am, and
doing tracks for Chi-town up and comer LongShot, not a bad start. He signed
with Chicago hip-hop label Ev Productions in 2004 and is currently working
in the studio with Modill, a collaboration with Chicago emcees Racecar and
Thaione Davis of Birthwrite records. The first single from Modill, "Change
Form!" features Diverse and Longshot and was a critical success. The next
single "Moves" features Truth Enola from De La Soul fame. As for what else
is in store from K-Kruz in 2005 he said "look for 'Midnight Green', the
Modill full length, a K-Kruz album tentatively entitled "Outsider" featuring
Count Bass D, Diverse, Racecar, Verb T (UK) and some other emcees I can't
quite talk about yet. Oh and some instrumental stuff on there too."
and finally MIKE RAVONE, who has an email address, but doesn't have a
computer:
performed in chicago w/ the garden foundation as wo1 from the mid to late
90's. he's too busy kicking ass to take names and is also creating another
mike ravone album w/ dj alo, j. hori and edella.
