I personally pronounce it "her-VAT-ski", but I suspect that may not be completely correct. I'll have to find a Croatian person and ask them how it's properly pronounced. Speaking of 'a Croatian person' & Hrvatski, when I was in NYC a few years ago for something, I met a Dj from Croatia. He saw one of my Hrvatski cd's, and was shocked, he said that that was a terrible word, and why was this artist using it? Sorry I don't remember what it meant...does anyone? My step-dad is Croation and I believe it just means Croatian (as in the language). The country is pronounced Hrvastska, I think. But cussing in Croatian sounds really intense. There was one phrase in particular that, directly translated, meant 'Go back to your mother's hole'...it had a lot of consonates. Nate, String Theory On Mar 5, 2005, at 2:47 PM, Technotica.com wrote:

I emailed Hrvatski a year ago asking him why he picked that name since it means 'Croatian' in Croatian, and since his name (Keith Witman) is clearly not Croatian. He said there was a poster in a subway station advertising learning other languages, and one of the languages was Hrvatski. The word sounded cool to him, so he started going under the name ... Also, Qwerty, is IDM quite popular in Croatia? I'm curious as my parents are both Croatian, but they immigrated to Canada in the 70s. I'd write this all in Croatian if I could - I mostly understand it, but speaking and especially writing in Croatian is quite difficult for me. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

wow... yeah, your surname sounds Croatian for sure.
