If people ask, I prefer to say I do experimental electronic music. If they try to tag me with "electronica", I say I hate that term because it is only an additional "ca" from "electroni-caca" (caca being slang for sh_t). andrew -- Andrew Duke scoring/sound design/source http://andrew-duke.com Cognition Audioworks label [Andrew Duke, Foal, Clinker, Granny'Ark] http://cognitionaudioworks.com -- No virus found in this outgoing message. I consider electronica as short-hand for electronic music. I like that it's very broad, because it keeps people wondering what I'm talking about, so the discussion goes somewhere. Those who don't wonder, well, I'd probably rather not have a music conversation with them anyway. Me, I just dislike when someone sends to a mailing list an email that's marked with a request for a read-receipt. But that's just me. :P -adam John Goelzer wrote:

same here, people not into electronic music will understand a sentence like "I listen to electronica mainly", instead of "I listen to breakcore" besides, there are way too many subgenres around in most styles anyway, so much that you get these idiot discussions where people argue if a certain track is either techstep or technoid, or maybe neurofunk, or...

I really did consider doing this with Polkore at one point. Imagine... an album proclaiming itself to be a collection of seminal Polkore tracks by the originators of the style: 13-year olds in Wisconsin sampling their grandparents' polka records and laying them over hardcore percussion loops. It could also just work as a design concept :) Toodles, -- shawn allen mailto://shawn@alterior.net phone://+1.415.577.3961 http://alterior.net aim://shawnpallen --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Well I remember a competition on the smartelectronix website, where eveyone was invitet to make a track using the .dll - files of the smartelectronic vst plugins. But the results didnt sound like what i would imagine under the name of corecore. Sok Andrew Walkingshaw schrieb:
