It's not that it's tracked, but the software does scan the email for keywords to pull ads that seem to fit. the information is not 'used' in a way that has any human read your email nor is any of your email content supplied to third parties... the 'computer' just grabs keywords and displays text ads that already exist in their database for those keywords. Very similar to the text ads that show up to the right of certain google searches. For more info see: http://gmail.google.com/gmail/help/more.html i read your email, xenlab Mupetblast@aol.com wrote:

There is no junk mail per se, but apparently your emails are tracked and its content taken note of, so advertisers know what to pitch to you. You'll notice this on the right side of your screen when reading your email. For example, I sent my friend an article from The Guardian about women in Saudia Arabia, and noticed travel agency ads with hotel information for Riyadh! > >-Dain > > >

Actually they own nothing of Apple. In a nutshell, when Steve Jobs came back to Apple in the late 90s he knew that getting Microsoft onboard to deliver new products for the Macintosh and continued support was pivotal to the success of Apple. As a show of good faith, Apple replaced Netscape with Internet Explorer as the default browser on all Macs (Apple's superior Safari replaced it a few years ago). Apple also sold 150 million non-voting shares to Microsoft in return for several years worth of continued development of Microsoft Office for Mac (it should be noted that Apple had 1.2 billion in cash reserves at the time, so the 150 million was merely symbolic). Apple has since bought back all shares from Microsoft. Apple has several billion dollars in *cash* reserves and is 100% debt-free. They had the most profitable quarter in their entire history last quarter. It's safe to say Apple is doing better than ever. :) -- Mr. Tangent [the binary police] www.mrtangent.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
