Well, people were asking about Phonem! See the second section of this Morr mailshot. ----- Original Message ----- From: MORRMUSIC.COM To: clive-harris@ntlworld.com Sent: Friday, February 04, 2005 2:38 PM Subject: ++morr music+news+dates+04/02/05++ MORR-NEWS 04.02.2005 Benjamin Gibbard & Andrew Kenny - Home EP out on Monday On Monday, feb 7th, Morr Music re-releases Benjamin Gibbard & Andrew Kenny's "Home EP Vol. V", which was originally out as a CD only release on the US label Post-Parlo and an instant classic on the Morr office's boombox. To give us goosebumps constantly, all it takes these guys is their truly outstanding voices and an acoustic guitar. Beau-ti-ful! Please note that this won't be released in the US! Phonem is dead - Long live Elliot Perkins Three years after Phonem released his last album "Ilisu" on Morr Music, he finally re-emerges with his new album "Eurodac Express". Having discharged his former artist moniker, he releases it under his real name Elliot Perkins for Ultra Red's Public Rec. The press release says: "Originally commissioned for Manchester's Futuresonic Festival in 2002, EURODAC EXPR! ESS began as a collaboration between Elliot and the internationally-renowned photographer Shahidul Alam from the DRIK Project in Bangladesh - whose regular practice involves working with migrants in the sub-continent. The title of the project, EURODAC EXPRESS, refers to the way a combination of new technology and new legislative powers have been rushed into service by the EU without proper assessment or checks. This system aims to subvert the commonplace view that the journeys of migrants and refugees to Europe are an "express" route to an easy life aided and abetted by the supposedly "soft" policies and policing of European member states. Conceived of as a tour of the migrant pathways leading from the Far East through Europe, the project culminated in a residency with school children and asylum seeking families in Oldham and other towns in the North of England that have been the scene of horrific racist violence." The album is available for free download at http://www.publicrec.org New The Postal Service single incl. Styrofoam Mix On february 9th, Sub Pop will release a new Postal Service single including "We Will Become Silhouttes" taken from their latest album, as well as a brand new song called "Be Still My Heart". Additionally, Matthew Dear provides a remix of "We Will..." and Morr Music's Styrofoam did a mix of "Nothing Better", which originally has been released on The Postal Service's "Give Up" album, too. http://www.subpop.com ------------------------------- MORR-TOURDATES B.
