CLICK: http://www.modsquare.com/modsquare_more.php?id=221_0_32_0_M Attention experimental electronic musicians! Here is your chance to network with other artists and industry-types, chat about gear and software, and share your CDR demos with the other attendees. Save a copy for us and we might feature it on a future Modsquare Netlabel release. Join us at Sonotheque for a night of electronic-musician networking set to an IDM-ish soundtrack featuring laptop sets from Miles Tilmann & Justin McGrath, and DJ sets from m50 & Liz Revision. Musicians, bring at least 10 copies of your demo on CDR (with your 3 best tracks) to share with the people you'll meet and you'll get in free. We've got links to cheap CDRs, labels, & cases, and free CD sticker and business card templates on our website (www.modsquare.com) to make sure people know how to get in touch with you. You can use your own design or scribble with a Sharpie, too--just make sure your contact info is on the CD. CLICK FOR FLIER: http://www.modsquare.com/files/feb8sonotheque550.jpg The Modsquare Netlabel will be launched with two albums, the first initially released last year, Ctrl-F2, and the second to be released February 8, Ctrl-Space. The netlabel serves as a platform to increase exposure for innovative, emerging abstract electronic artists, and each release features MP3s made freely available with an open-source, Creative Commons license and mirrored at Archive.org. John Reveles of Igloo Magazine writes regarding the first release, "From the stuttering Aphex [Twin]-style electro breaks of Atropa's 'Yaser' to the graceful glitch of Praveen Sharma's 'Elephant Feet,' Ctrl-F2 consistently manages to one-up itself in its style and diversity." Ctrl-Space follows in its footsteps and promises to one-up its predecessor. Live laptop sets from two Chicago-natives will be featured during the evening. Miles Tilmann, who has contributed a track to Ctrl-F2, has recorded for such labels as Consumers Research, Semisexual, and Toytronic. His latest EP has been described as "uplifting melodies, rhythms, chords, and beats inter-spliced with ambient interludes" by Staticbeats, and his tour last year with Merck recording artists Mr. Projectile and Adam Johnson garnered him a slew of new fans. Justin McGrath, with a track on Ctrl-Space, fuses deep, symphonic atmospheres and melodic exploration with crunchy, skittery beat patterns to create an equally emotional and heady experience. DJs M50 (of WNUR, illmeasures, Meiotic and subVariant) provides sonic interludes and finishes the evening while Liz Revision (aka Quantazelle, of subVariant, and editor-in-chief of Modsquare) opens for the live artists by including tracks from the two releases in her set. Ctrl-F2 artists: Atropa, Equulei, M.Mercer, Kero, Miles Tilmann, Quantazelle, R.Garcia, Flashbulb, Atomly, Mochipet, Dave Olson, and Praveen Sharma. Ctrl-Space artists: Justin McGrath, DoF, Max Spransy, Proswell, Set In Sand, Wisp, DCJ, Yard, Daenra, Loves Not Dead, The Deep Element, and Phylum Sinter. --------------- SUBVARIANT & MODSQUARE present the Modsquare Netlabel Launch & Ctrl-Space release party. Featuring Miles Tilmann [Consumers R&D, Toytronic, Semisexual, MDSQ Ctrl-F2] - Live PA, Justin McGrath [2playermusic, MDSQ Ctrl-Space] - Live PA, m50 [illmeasures, Meiotic, subVariant, WNUR] - DJ set, and Liz Revision (aka Quantazelle) [Modsquare, subVariant] - DJ set.
