Picked this one up yesterday, wowzers high phidelity groovy tripped out lushness! I would say this is possibly the best album Schematic has put out to date, and kind of a new direction for them. Anyone else have any thoughts on this one? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! I like how the album shifts from one direction to the next. It starts out all digital funk and mostly electronic, and then all of a sudden halfway through track four these Atom Heart Mother-esque horns come in, and you're like "Hey, are those horns?". And then they get all spy/noir on you on that track with vocals and then more funkiness and dang, it's just a great album. I dunno about the *best* thing that Schematic's ever done (o9, anyone?), but it's right up there. I'd love to hear their older stuff. The new Von Schirach, on the other hand, is just too childish at times for me to handle. Although the artwork is pretty fantastic, if not a little disturbing. I wasn't crazy about Hearts of Darknesses or the Yamu D'din or whatever that was. Looking forward to the new Dino Felipe, though. Anyway... It's all about that wierd breakdown/pause murmur-stop-where-am-I in the middle of track three. Like diving deep and surfacing or something. Among other things. --- StaticBeats <stupidnametaken@yahoo.com> wrote:

Marilyn Manson has never been worse. ;) You're correct: the artwork is fantastic (albeit gruesome). And of course, you're missing the picture on the inside of the disc with the dismembered breasts still spouting milk. Geez. And hey, how do you like that Intricate disc? I've been through it once or twice. I like it. I think it's gonna be a grower, if I can find the time to let it do so. New Yellowtone is also quite nice. Oh, and the other awesome part of Secret Freq. Crew? That woodpecker sound that runs from track six through the latter half of the album. I don't know if it pops up all the way to the end, I just know that I heard it coming up on a few tracks after that. Really gives it a great sense of happening in the woods somewhere. Damn. Sort of on topic, for some nice nature sounsd you should check out the field recordings by Chris Watson on Touch (ex Cabaret Voltaire) ... he's got some beautiful stuff going on. Out of the Circle of Fire has some amazing recordings of animals in their natural habitats, and Weather Report contains outstanding recordings of storms. np: Meat Beat Manifesto - Now On 19 Oct 2004, at 20:38, Chispas De Muerte wrote:

i hate track 5, it features a sublying telephone-ringing that drives me mad, at least it sounds like my phone... i always mechanically stand up and want to answer it. can´t play it without loosing focus on breathing and then I drop unconscious. despite of that: excellent audio deviations on this one, I like the grindcore-voiceing and the carnival-loops... i just miss a heavy snare here and there. but the best thing are the fresh lyrics...

yeah. scematic is keeping an underground breeding capacity for graphic designers. they breed graphic designers and put all the money into the artwork. all the money. I heared you have to actually pay to release there.. ;)

Matmos - Rat Relocation Project: there's a nature recording that's definitely also idm! http://www.locustmusic.com/matmos.html A street rat was breaking into our apartment, eating our food and chewing holes in our clothes, skittering across our kitchen in the dark, scuttling inside our walls late at night. Since we already had a pet rat, the prospect of trying to kill one rat while feeding another struck us as intolerable hypocrisy, so we bought a non-lethal "Have-a-Heart Trap". After several days of luring the invader closer and closer towards and then inside the trap with peanuts, we captured her. The first track is an unedited recording of the rat protesting its incarceration. The second track is our response, in which the timing and duration of the rat screams from the first track have been preserved. The following morning we took the rat to a wealthy suburban neighborhood and set it free." - Drew Daniel seek --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Oi ! But have you heard the Rat Relocation Project? If so, did you try and suffer through it more than once? Matmos is as Matmos does but how does something like this get released? And what made me think I'd like it after reading the description? A trapped rap screaming in a cage. Perfect music for your morning commute. Im so glad I own this. Great for parties too!
