Ya, I caught the LA show this past Tuesday. It started a little bit later than scheduled because some string quartet was playing Radiohead and Queens of the Stone Age covers for like an hour before L'usine.
I love L'usine's older stuff; the newer stuff is too mellow for my tastes. But live, his kick sounds and overall low end/bass sounds are soooooo punchy that even the mellow stuff will rearrange your innards. Pretty much down tempo, slower stuff (but never beatless/ambient), but there were a couple people of the 25 or so who showed up who were dancing. He played live (no djing witnessed at all this night) for over an hour.
Solvent I was never into, and plus he went on so late (midnight?) on a school/work night, that I didn't stay past the first half of a song. Sounded a notch or two happier, bouncier than L'usine.
Anyone caught one of these?
I'm wondering what kind of sets they're doing. I wouldn't give it a second thought if I could make it to the local (Milwaukee) show, but since I'm considering driving to Madison for it I'd prefer to know in advance whether they're doing live PAs or spinning records.
Thanks.
JG
