If you have the patience, and most of all, if you know who the key names are in micro-tech-house (as I suspect you do), have a look at livesets.com. Just make sure you register (free but I assume they want to be able to control what is posted) so you have access to the techno/house/other forums...there is always something good to find. Good luck poussinfrais __________________ Sebastien Dalphond Lead R&D - Hybride

from what I understand most of the grime shit is white label i.e. the performers press their own shit and go around to stores selling it. I think there's a web shop that specializes in those 12"s though. - a On Wednesday, September 15, 2004, at 12:38 AM, cutups wrote:

garage: so on the more commercial and vocal kick I like the Roll Deep crew, new Wiley(Treddin) and new Dizzee(Showtime) also Streets are always good al on XL. 2step: on the production tip, Souljah records are great with Plasticman and Daluq also Tempa records, Benny Ill and Horsepower Production crew. Phuturistix most recent on Hospital is quite good too. breaks: As for UK breakbeat Meat Katie's Bedrock Breaks album, Adam Freeland's Fabric album are both excellent as well. check out distinctive breaks too. two cents and four cents and eight cents... later, Nth

Well, rephlex has grime 2 on the way.. But honestly I look at grime as the way to tell good music from bad music on the nujazz/broken beat front. If it sucks, it goes into grime category (yes, this is not ALL grime, just for the most part). and some good nujazz/broken beats (I guess this would fall into the 'really anything strong, interesting or notable works' category) sites are: Www.brokenbeatradio.com Www.nuwave.co.uk Www.futureboogie.com Www.clubitty.com Www.dom-uniqueproductions.com Www.elementdetroit.com Www.abstractscience.net Also the jazzmusique station on netmusique.com But you wanted grime.. The rephlex site used to have the most terrible set with the worst mc's I've ever heard on it. You could check that out. Or to hear it played decently.. Try to track down a recent soundmurderer set, the one at the demf (movement 2004) was pretty great for the gloomy weather.. It fit right in there. i like those grime tunes on rephlex.. that music is what it is.. it's street music.. it's london music.. it doesn't want to be anything more or less.. it's true.. and it's great for dancing in the club, as well as homelistening.. what would one want more? and i don't like any genre that has the word 'broken', 'nu' or 'beat' in it... p.s. those grime dj-sets on rephlex site didn't hit me either.. the MCs are somehow.. don't do it for me.. especially when you can't hear music because of them.. but i guess if you were in the club listening to it, it would be a whole different experience... --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
