I am listening to it right now, I am not familiar with pan sonic, so you should give me some time. It seems it has too much glitch sounds at first but then finding it way to some melodies which is more I like. didn't quite finish it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Saltim" <saltimbocca@gmx.de> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Saturday, July 03, 2004 1:16 PM Subject: [idm] Is the new Pan Sonic album good?

It's long, not groundbreaking, but captures my attention when listened to in manageable bursts. More melodic than older Pan Sonic. Not album of the year, but better than the O9 album that Seek keeps on raving about [IMHO] np: Alice Coltrane - Journey In Satchidananda On 4 Jul 2004, at 15:32, ilteris kaplan wrote:

I totally dig the new pan sonic. one of my favorite albums by them ever. the first disc is amazing and held my attention for about a week, the other ones aren't as good, one is mostly ambient musique concrete stuff that's alright but tongue in cheek (they sample a toilet ala yoko ono amongst what sounds like stockhuasen xenakis type of stuff), and then they have more drone inspired shit etc. -a On Sunday, July 4, 2004, at 11:03 AM, muffin wrote:

quoted 1 line np: Alice Coltrane - Journey In Satchidananda> np: Alice Coltrane - Journey In Satchidananda
Album of the Year, 1970: "Direct inspiration for Journey in Satchidananda comes from my meeting and association with someone who is near and dear to me. I am speaking of my own beloved spiritual perceptor, Swami Satchidananda. Swamiji is the first example I have seen in recent years of Universal Love or God in action. He expresses an impersonal love, which encompasses thousands of people. Anyone listening to this selection should try to envision himself floating on an ocean of Satchidanandaji's love, which is literally carrying countless devotees across the vicissitudes and stormy blasts of life to the other shore. Satchidananda means knowledge, existence, bliss." What's really amazing about Alice Coltrane is that she doesn't even take LSD. Go ask Alice. http://www.silent-watcher.net/alicecoltrane/turiyasangitananda.jpg (Really, though, Alice's more of an 'ambient' experience than she is an 'IDM' artiste.) seek - still waiting for that touted Alice Coltrane/Alice Cooper duet. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
