Is there any good reliable trick to see if the pitch controls on 1200's are working properly? A while ago when playing a record on the highest pitch on 33, the speed started fluctuating n shit---scared the daylights outta me. It hasn't happened since for some reason, but a big show is comin up and i need everything to be top-notch. Any suggestions? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? yea, I would see a technician .. if you are handy with a multi meter .. and have the service manual you can tune them yourself .. fiddly but fun as you can tune your decks to +/- 20% if you want .. fluctuations in the platter is caused by dirty contacts in your fader and normal wear and tear .. . . you can clean them out .. I have a pair I reconditioned and they work fine . but you can get new ones quite cheap as well .. If you are careful though . when you open up the faders to clean them you can remove the center point bearing . and get rid of the zero point ' What has happened is that all the dust in the fader gets pushed to the extremes of the fader . so when you wind it all the way to the top .. the contacts can lift .. and you get a pulsing as the fader try's to find connection .. For a quick fix.. use air in a can to blow dust out .. DO NOT use contact spray . it will trash your fader by leaving further residue .. otherwise . run the fader up and down quickly several times .. or if all else fails get you lips down there and apply a short sharp puff .. not recommended as you will introduce moisture .. but it has got me out of a bad situation .. in the mix crappy decks . Mostly .. get a professional to have look -- ......... ............. ......................................... . . . ... .. .............. // \\ aw' yea I reckon ' http://www.obscure.co.nz // \\ ................. . . ..................................... ... . . . ................................. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

for those of you scratching your head looking for the fader on your 1200... he is incorrectly using the term "fader" to refer to the linearly-controlled potentiometer (or "pot") that is used inside the 1200 for the trim adjustment. this is the same type of variable-resistsance electronic device commonly used in mixers for the fader, in graphic equalizers for the +/-ndB adjustment for each band, and for studio mixer line-level gain controls, etc. even cooler 1200 pitch mod... http://www.futureproducers.com/forums/showthread/threadid/33516 carry on -=dave ----- Original Message ----- From: "turnstyle" <nil@obscure.co.nz> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Thursday, June 17, 2004 4:12 PM Subject: Re: [idm] pitch control testing

So when I take the platter off what should I look for? What does it look like? Is it a real sensitive type thing that I need to take special precautions for? --- SE/30 <grindingbassline@hotmail.com> wrote:

its a small white thingy that looks like it has a plus or a X where you could place a small phillips screw driver, i believe it says PITCH on the circuit board next to it...before you change it, take a sharpie/marker and make the side so you can always get it back to the original setting if you want to. ]|[ ----- Original Message ----- From: "JCR665.9" <underachiever420@yahoo.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Friday, June 18, 2004 7:44 AM Subject: Re: [idm] pitch control testing
