My poor bank account. Along with the Beef Terminal CDs I ordered up they threw in their Sampler Vol2, so now I have to get the whole discography. The music on the label is varied, but a common thread runs through -- melody and quiet, and percussion that doesn't try to mug you. Delightfully shoe-gazer-esque without succumbing to nostalgia for the late 80s... Sparrow Orange "Dreams About Motion" -- ice cream truck melodies, naive guitars and subtle drumming. Reminds me of the Eno album "Before and After Science." K.C. Accidental "Nancy and the Girdle Boy" is like My Bloody Valentine, Band of Susans, and Rhys Chatham drinking shandy together in a rowboat. Tinkertoy "Why doesn't my coffee have good creama?" -- straight up minor chord tech-house but nicely varied without violating any of the regulations governing minimal techno. In a good way. Robin Judge "Quadra" flirts with Basic Channelism but chock full of vague twitterings, and it even modulates briefly to the relative major key! Beef Terminal "Daydreams of wasted time" -- I don't like the percussion on this one as much as some other Beef Terminal tracks, but I love the elliptical way the guitars loop around. Naw "Orialis" Tech house along the lines of Akufen or Hakan Libdo but nicely textured and layered. Beef Terminal "An Early Start" -- beatless, loopy, lush guitars. Like taking a warm bath in guitars. Broken social Scene "Love and Mathematics" breakbeats, major chords, sweetness. Like a Bjork song only without that crazy dwarf yowling over the top. Naw "brittle sticks" -- scary, ambient rumblings set to that rocking techno beat. K.C. Accidental "Ruined in 84" -- short and sweet, ruined, presumably, by listing to Wire and Sonic Youth. Beef Terminal "Sick Love Under Toronto" -- Do you remember when U2 was cool because of the Edge and his delay pedal? So does Beef Terminal! Sparrow Orange "Hands and Knees Music" -- lush and wistful. Lovely. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I've seen the term 'shoegazer' used a few times in the past, what style does it refer to? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

acctually you scored larger then you even realised as the record that orialis was supposed to come out on had to be scraped... so the record dropfile and other lost data will never see the light of day other the this single track... and a few others that had not been scraped from that record that will come out some time in the future but for now the dropfile and other lost data record has been scraped due to some issues I had with how the tracks were recorded sound wise. I have decided to go back into the studio about a 2 months ago and I am recording an entire new record for the label from scratch the title will be "green nights orange days" and should be out in august.... the new material will be less like orialis and more like my recent track on the complot.ca swap compilation (availalbe for download from complot) its a mix of sound some place between the dubness of the resound of a foggy autum dawn cd and the dance floor clicky house of orialis glad you enjoyed the comp and thanks for the kind kind words about my track on it... neil aka naw On Tue, 13 Apr 2004, Kent williams wrote:
