Try: Fluxion - 'Vibrant Forms' and 'Vibrant Forms II' (Chain Reaction) Signer - 'Low light dreams' (Carpark) Monolake - Interstate (ml/i) You probably should survey the Chain Reaction catalogue - be surprised if you haven't already. Also the ~scape label, though it's not really my cuppa. Pole usually get mentioned in this context, but he's kind of lost it lately. Poles '2' and '3' perhaps worthy of revisiting, or visiting if you haven't been there, seen it, done it, etc. Also look for the relatively recent Scion - 'arrange and process basic channel tracks': more of a dancefloor pacifier, but still a good listen. alan ---------------------- Alan Lockett, (Senior Language Co-ordinator, EFL), Language Centre, University of Bristol, 30-32 Tyndall's Park Road, Bristol BS8 1PY, UK Alan.R.Lockett@bristol.ac.uk tel: +44 117 3310914 fax: +44 117 9741377 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Check out the net.label miasmah http://www.archive.org/audio/collection.php?collection=miasmah Especially the 3 or 4 EPs by Solitaire Albread. Its free and very deep and dubby. (IDM bonus ref, they had a co-release on Merck last year) Speaking of Merck, get Adam Johnson's _Chigliak_, the second half of it will be right up your alley. Jeff Bennett has a couple of nice releases on Pokerflat but "Puzzling Thoughts" on Episode is a great and very dubbed out album. He's got a nice mix up on his website too under the DJ section http://www.jeffbennett.info/djlive.htm Someone already mentioned Signer, his alter ego Aspen has some nice tech-y stuff (though a bit more lively than the classic BC sound), I like _music from passing cars_ a lot. The Rhythm&Sound _with the artists_ is really amazing, it hits a great vibe and the degree to which the instrumentals are stripped-down really brings the vocalists out in a way that most traditional dub doesnt (if people wanted the vocal mixes, they'd listen to the pre-dub versions, right?) but IMO Black Uhuru's _The Dub Factor_ and King Tubby's mid-70s dubs are essential precursors (obviously there's many many more)... one more: sustainer - cuantico (italic) http://www.discogs.com/release/134311 more formulated -- almost clinical -- response to the BC/Maurizio sound. whether you think it's a copy, a tribute or whatever -- there are some nice grooves in here. and i guess if you're looking for more of that BC sound, this is *really* up that alley. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

some recent-ish releases also worth mentioing: pleite (aka d.costello) - pleite 12" (trapez) http://www.discogs.com/release/101347 simply awesome. my favorite record of 2003 hands down. while this doesn't really possess that dubby, cavernous feel of early BC/Maurizio stuff, the bassline alone and slight nod to the dubminimalist era really do it for me. donnacha costello - blue 12" (minimise) http://www.discogs.com/release/234294 two elongated, tripped-out excursions of serious ocean depth. think basic channel + hawtin's concept series fused together. costello's rolling out more "color series" 12"s as well (green and red -- though these bring more acidity to the table). either way, you really cannot go wrong with mr costello imho. rod modell - kettle point 12" (echocord) http://www.discogs.com/release/189807 echoing jamille's "deepchord" recommendation here as modell's credited with the dc stuff as well. i mention this one b/c this release has 2 nice 4/4 cuts along with 2 shimmery downtempo cuts. fine label altogether too. mikkel metal (more experimental) is also one to watch. maurizio/round 1-5 (main street) http://www.discogs.com/release/581 definitely not new, and perhaps you have this already, but these tracks are BC-produced with tikiman and andy caine providing vocals. each round is also released as a 12" and are still available at good house/techo shops. happy hunting, asg -----Original Message----- From: jam@rraurl.com [mailto:jam@rraurl.com] Sent: Friday, April 02, 2004 8:09 AM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [idm] Not quite IDM I guess - Basic Channel / Rhythm & Sound if you are keen on basic channel/chain reaction, deep chord is a must-listen. http://www.deepchord.com cheers jamille --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
