so, to those who've heard it. including the one who made the original statement: what exactly is SO different about it? and is it just different from squarepusher or different from most similar stuff out there? i see words about the ultra-fast beats and edits and i just wonder how much further it could be than the newest kid606, which is completely insane. or is it somehow in a different direction from that even? d. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Nope. Nothing like Kid 606. It sounds like a Squarepusher record. If you heard it playing somewhere completely out of context, you'd still know its Squarepusher. Overall, the sounds he uses are reminiscent of the MIRON/Budakahn Mindphone period, but the beats are generally more spastic than anything you had there. I think everyone's getting all bent out of shape over it because after that last terrible album, no one expected something this decent. -Aaron

i didn't think 'do you know...?' was terrible, but then i'm not a big squarepusher fan. i was partially reeled in my the more weird warped ambient moments and the gall of doing yet anbother cover of "love will tear us apart" (you'd think joy division never wrote another song). and the "live in japan" CD was initially interesting because of hearing that kind of music in a shitty live-recorded environment. but ultimately i was bored by most of it. not quite rating as "terrible", but not anywhere near essential. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
