Hi does anyone here know/own REQ's Car Paint Scheme and what is your opinion? I just listened to it in the shop the other day and found the beats funky but otherwise with little musical essence (more like a collection of grooves than finished tunes maybe..). I really think this is interesting though because Warp is one of my favourite labels and maybe I'm missing something obvious with this artist. On a related note, if anyone can recommend and instrumental hiphop/abstract funk, please don't hesitate to let me know! I own this, and I kinda feel the same way. There's a lot more going on than in 'Sketches', but it doesn't feel like there are too many tracks that are fully realized, so that again, these do feel kinda like unfinished projects. Some of the tracks that sound really good (Train Jam, for instance), sometimes go on longer than they need to. To that end, I think the album is longer than it needs to be, and doesn't do a whole lot for me when taken in all at one sitting. I think the best, and most fully realized track on there is Friscobeat. Later, Alan Quoting saltimbocca@gmx.de:

I own sketches, and if car paint scheme is the same way, I've also found that one sitting is not the way to go. I really enjoyed sketches when I left it in my car one day driving around st. louis with a friend, constantly stopping going to stores/gas stations/museums, cause when you get back in the car there's always a funky groove and always enough of it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alan R.
