LUKE SLATER - Traktion Action [NOVAMUTE] 12" Release Date: January 12, 2004 'Traktion Action' drills away like a jackhammer as twanging synths lead the charging sounds into a crash and burn ending. The pace is unstoppable and marches with the attitude of a pack of skinheads ready to riot. It is similar in a way to early Mute tech-industrialists Nitzer Ebb, but punkier and more technologically advanced. 'Intensity' is a gritty electronic workout with a big rolling bass groove and plenty of squelchy noises. 'EBDB' is more typical of Slater's material, filled with growling sub-bass and plenty of echo on the buzzsaw beats that will delight the darkest of dancefloors Luke is also working on an as yet untitled album project for Mute. ______________________________________________________ NITZER EBB - Murderous (Phil Kieran Remix) / Control I'm Here (LFO Remix) [NOVAMUTE] 12" Release Date: January 26, 2004 For this remix, Belfast?s Phil Kieran retains the tough industrial drive of the original, and it?s spiky keyboards, and makes brilliant use of the vocal ? dropping it sparingly throughout. This is an effective repackaging of the song for today?s dancefloors ? maintaining all the energy of the original. Control I?m Here comes from a later time in the band?s career - October 1988. LFO man Mark Bell offers a more radical reworking of the Ebb version, darking it up to the max with some heavy synths. Despite this imposing feel, the tempo is firmly on the upbeat tip, in a haze of sparkling hi hats and 808 toms. As such, it probably mimicks the contrast of body-moving power ryhthms with serious and occasionally unnerving vocal content that the band always managed to combine. ______________________________________________________ TIM WRIGHT - The Ride [NOVAMUTE] 12" Release Date: March 1st, 2004 Tim is just putting the finishing touches to his long awaited album for novamute. Titled Thirst, the record showcases Tim's hi-end compositional and production values. It's an extremely exciting piece of music. First and phat single The Ride features Toastie Tailor on vox and is out 1st March 2004. The album follows 15th March. ______________________________________________________ THROBBING GRISTLE - Mutant TG [NOVAMUTE] CD Release Date: March 8th, 2004 Almost thirty years on since their inception from the ashes of performance art troupe/media guerrilla cell Coum Transmissions, Throbbing Gristle?s challenging, expressive and self-empowering manifesto?s and music are as relevant today as they were back in the bleak mid 70s. This, the first ever collection of Throbbing Gristle remixes ? Mutant TG ? highlights just how significant they still are. CD Track Listing: 1.) Persuasion (Motor remix) 2.)
