did anyone here give a crap about the flying lotus/you're dead album? i really want to like flying lotus, i like the concept of his music, trippy idm type trickery with hip hop beats and jazz influences...but this album is: 1. its 40 minutes long, in my book, that's an EP at best 2. theres like 20 tracks, each fucking track is literally like 1 or 2 minutes long, and he always does this shit 3. each song will start and theres all these great jazz samples, cool melodies, neat effects, all swirling and syncopating and you're like OK this song intro is almost over, cant wait for the song to start! and then it ends 4. theres like 2 or MAYBE 3 actual songs on the entire album 5. god i hate snoop dogg now, he is literally on every fucking thing from disney kids rock albums to my little pony and now flying lotus, wtf does this guy have to do with anything? huge waste of whatever he was paid to appear on here Clint Anderson Systems Engineer

i would buy the lp if it was free or something. i listen to it every once in a while. i like that layer3 gig visualization system he had, it was crazy! utter crazy. i think flylo is the only new guy on warp that matters. that and afx. boc fell into interludes and arpeggios, squarepusher is an artisté, and no-one has seen autechre for years, all we can see is a cloud of skunk smoke and career-upholding albums pushed out on a schedule. honestly anyone else can put out shit albums and it doesnt annoy me but somehow i just want flylo to do what i want! obviously he doesn't and shouldn't give a shit but thats how i feel goddamnit i really liked cosmogramma, and the reset ep is my all time favorite of his, and ive also got the 3 L.A. EPs by him which are OK but... i keep wondering too, he said the release of the album was held up by him not knowing which tracks kendrick lamar was gonna use, i wonder if kenrick raided that shit and took like 10 good tracks away from the album or something maybe the new kendrick lamar album is going to be really fucking good? heh Clint Anderson Systems Engineer On Fri, Nov 7, 2014 at 3:42 PM, Esa Ruoho <esaruoho@gmail.com> wrote:

I really liked the new FLYLO album. I do agree that all the tracks are too damn short, though. I have to listen to the album straight through; only a few tracks can really be appreciated on their own (Coronus, Never Catch Me, Obligatory Cadence). Cosmogramma and UtQC are my favorite FLYLO albums. Sent from my iPhone

40 mn ? — I don't think the «Richard D. James» album lasts this long ! Unfortunately, Flying Lotus is no Richard James and should keep Flying Motus instead. Now i notice i'm not the only one who «would like to like Flying Lotus», but repeated listenings didn't help me thinking his biggest effort was to be you-know-who's nephew.
