Yeah, I just got a notification email today from eMusic. It's a crying shame. Guess I'll be cancelling my account by November 8th. They really did have some great stuff up there, too. Alan Quoting StaticBeats <minimalism@staticbeats.com>:

e thing mention which I thought was worth noting is that although the service was previously "unlimited" it was actually limited to 2000 downloads/month. Another mention is that since the catalog is limited to a fairly niche market of more obscure labels, restricting the amount people can download will really hurt the labels more than anyone. Rather than be able to sample a selection of albums and then go out and purchase a full release (as someone mentioned with the Atom Heart releases) a person will have to make more hardlined decisions based on what they can afford. Emusic had *so* much going for it. It's very well possible that a public outcry (Slashdot being a powerful force) will bring attention to their board of directors who may very well see the ultimate cost of their decision; subscribers leaving en masse. And the sad thing is that the site is already wrecked. Everybody is trying to download as much as they can before the deadline, so the site is operating at a crawl - it's almost completely useless trying to download anything. And contracting for $10 a month to download 2-3 albums as mp3's ? I don't think so. And the music industry wonders why there's all this file sharing... Corporate greed - where would we be without it?
