Alright, so the Paws Across America tour is coming to Baltimore with Kid 606, DJ Rapture and Dwayne Sodahberk on August 13th. It's a late show (starts at 10:30 pm), there's three acts, and Baltimore is about a 45-minute drive from where I live. Plus it's a school night (have to work the next day at 9 am). Which means I'll probably get about three hours sleep. Can anyone who's been to a Kid 606 show (and/or any of the other artists) tell me how much he kicks ass live so I really really really should drop everything and go to this? Thanks. I would be there if I could 'cos the Kid 606 and DJ Rupture gig I saw at the ICA was a couple of weeks ago blew me away. OK, so the bug was the highlight of that night, but DJ Rupture set the tone so well with his Break Core action. Think dancehall meets hardcore meets gabba meets electro meets jungle and you'll get somewhere to what rupture plaid. Kid 606 brought out a relentless rhythm that only a machine could produce, so relentless that the noise mixed in with it sounded like the PA being disassembled from the source. It kicked ass, but then you have to be in the right mindspace for that. on 01/08/03 4:36 pm the person going by the name patrick wojahn at wojahnp@bulldog.georgetown.edu spake :

Apparently he plays lots of gabba hardcore stuff live. If yo'ure into that, go. If yo'ur enot sure, then i's not like it's a life-affirming event or anything. no points going and coming home dispaointed. -- eggytoast.com - eggtastic.com ------ it's in your grocer's freezer --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i saw him live in san francisco a while back, with gold chains and someone else, i forget. as mentioned, lots of gabba/hardcore sounding stuff, with the requisite top 40 track thrown in here and there and subjected to 606 fuckery. as i said, it was a while back, a year or so, i'm sure he's updated his sound since then. it was ok overall, but if i'd driven 45 mins and had to get up early the next day, would not have been worth it at all. if you're a hardcore fan, by all means go. otherwise, save your time and money. Well 606's new tracks are fucking GREAT, so that's 1 reason. reason #2 is to witness the genius that is DJ Rupture. I've played with him a few times now, and each and every time he's just amazing! REALLY!!! One of the best Dj's in the world, and it's not just beat matching IDM or Drum and Bass- it's the total music experience... Also, why don't you actually go to a music show unlike about 90% of this list!! (ooohhhh) Donna Summer

Anybody in in Dublin tonight should head along to Bodkins bar where Andrea Parker will be DJing tonight along with The Undermine DJs and Americhord. It's 5 Eurobucks in and the big metal doors open at 10pm. And while I'm here, that new Kid606 12" is pretty decent alright. I really like the title track (The Illness), sounds like a distored Shut Up And Dance workout. -skkatter ===== http://www.skkatter.net __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
