Windows users: I have disavowed MusicMatch because it hogs resources, is clunky, and pretty much all around sucks. Except it has some amazing ID3 tagging features which I still want to have around. So does anyone have any suggestions for good ID3 tag editing programs? I'd like to be able to tag a whole bunch of mp3s at once and change tags based on filenames and all that. Your advice is appreciated. -Aaron --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

If you're willing to leave musicmatch I can suggest a far superior replacement with superb tagging features, it has an excellent masstagger. http://foobar2000.hydrogenaudio.org/ It really is the cream of the crop in my opinion, I've spent so long searching for something like this. Hope this helps, Dan -----Original Message----- From: EggyToast [mailto:eggy@eggtastic.com] Sent: 03 July 2003 15:46 To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [idm] [OT] ID3 Tagging Aaron D Meyers said:

Foobar2000 is an excellent program full stop.. as soon as you embrace hotkeys you'll love it... it does try and remove id3v2 tags tho, as they are bloated and a curse on our files... anyways.. how does the mass tagging work in it.. drag on files and then in the playlist do some tag stuff?! i've edited single ones before perhaps never tried multiple.. Anyways tag and rename is very good.. but it also costs money mp3 Tag Tools http://massid3lib.sourceforge.net/ Does all of what tag and rename does with a few little quirks to its interface and its completely free.. as such its the best option and the only tagger i use.. works with id3v1, and v2... can set them via filenames and if you select your files first in the window you can then tick on fields you want to edit for all of them at once... basically all you need ;) James

they're necessary though once you remember the moron who wrote id3v1 decided to have little crappy buffer sizes for track names, retard.... i shouldn't worry so much about this shit though, it's like collecting stamps or something. ...skism --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yeah... Me Too... Tag and Rename is awesome. I bought an iPod about a year ago and needed to organise my 25GB or so of MP3s. I bought a copy of Tag and Rename (it's a free trial for 30 days) and it only took me a few evenings to get my collection in tip top shape. All consistently named, All tagged correctly with id3v1 and id3v2 tags. Very flexible piece of software. Highest possible recommendation from me. Failing that, there's always perl :o) http://search.cpan.org/author/MDIMEO/MPEG-ID3v2Tag-0.35/ID3v2Tag.pm Catchya Later, Richard ----- Original Message ----- From: "wallace winfrey" <wally@booyaka.com> To: "skism" <cazeone@ramdis.com> Cc: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Friday, July 04, 2003 5:54 AM Subject: RE: [idm] [OT] ID3 Tagging
