Coaster is the latest Quantazelle album: a beverage coaster that comes in a carrying case with a wrist-strap and a detailed user's guide. Each is hand-assembled, signed and dated as well. Here's a photo: http://www.quantazelle.com/images/uploads/bevcoaster-scanfront100.JPG. It's available on the newly-redesigned website with MP3 downloads: http://www.quantazelle.com/music.php here's a quote about Coaster: "Quantazelle falls somewhere in the downtempo IDM category and at times is definitely danceable. But she does this weird thing where she slams samples into places where they shouldn't fit, but they do. It's almost simplistic but it works. Braking (track 1) and Belmont Killa (track 4) are good examples. Voice samples that ring out like the guy next to you at a concert that has to sing along to every word. Pianos, strings and machinery that all do battle for your attention. It definitely keeps you on your toes, allowing the music to stay direct but interesting - it's not exhausting like a lot of the other music in this genre. The nice change I've noticed in this album is there's more emphasis on melody. Almost to prove this, Late Blazing Kinch Theme (Track 3) and Pansy Beatmatch (track 6) are a lot more straight forward melodically and are just gorgeous. The scratchy samples aren't left out, they're just put in their place. Both are very pretty little romps into an electronica netherworld.
