I was wondering if anyone knows who the opener before Four Tet was at the show last night? He also played a live kit during the Prefuse set. Thanks for the help. I'll post a link to pictures from the show a little later. /Paul ---------------------------------- www.quietresonance.tk --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Is it possible it was Manitoba (it looks from your subject :)? I know he is playing tonight in Montreal w/ Four Tet and P73. And by the way, what an awful thing to do to us Montrealers: the Prefuse 73 show is on the exact same night Telefon Tel Aviv/Pole/Deadbeat are playing (at Mutek). Which one to choose???? poussinfrais -- Sebastien Dalphond R&D-Hybride

Opening act that is the drummer is John Herndon from Tortoise. Prefuse show is right next to Pole show (in the same building). I'll be jumping back and forth. Thanks, Jeff

In detroit the opener was "A Grape Dope" who i think also played with Prefuse on some trax. Here's my vague review of the detroit show... Wow, i didn't even think manitoba was manitoba at first, it was so different than the album i have (the first). I thought they were the best part of the show, esp with the video + the drummers. That was rad. Fourtet was ok, but a bit to similar to alot of laptop/dsp. I know i'm jaded, i hear shit like that all the time. But it was cool that he was *very* diverse in what he played. Prefuse was just what you might expect - slamming as fuck. Sort of a mega mix of trax straight through. I wasn't that into the DJ... his scratching wasn't bad, but it wasn't particularly good. Amon Tobin was a bit disappointing, because he played at least as much jungle (that he didn't write) as he did his own stuff. It was fun, but i was hoping for at least a full set of his own stuff finalscratched. Sounds a bit down, but it was a very good show! Amazing turnout... i've never been to a show of that type with anywhere near that many people. I was so tired from the whole weekend though that i was zonking out by the end... ----- Original Message ----- From: "Paul." <sonic_tooth@yahoo.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Wednesday, May 28, 2003 1:26 PM Subject: [idm] Four Tet/Manitoba/Prefuse 73 In Toronto Question

i thought manitoba stole the show .......prefuse was great, but manitoba blew me away. fourtet was alright. He had some good shit going on, but in my opinion, found some way to almost annoy the shit out of me. Prefuse was great and the reason i went to the show, but manitoba is a force to be reckoned with.
