Don't change your mind too quickly, because that's a brilliant nomination and I love that album dearly. Also fantastic is his "We're only in it for the money" album which dates back to 1968, one year earlier than Rats but quite different in style. it'll be 'one size fits all' then, or 'apostrophe', for sure. whatever my preferred musical taste of the week is, zappa will sure be my #1 for ever. ciao, wolf. ----://----------------------------------------------------- mailto:wolf@kompaktkiste.de http://www.kompaktkiste.de http://www.kompaktkiste.de/shop ----://----------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Even if I were to change my mind I think that album would still be in my top 10. 'We're Only In It For The Money' is another classic but not one of my favorites. I tend to like FZ's stuff right in the middle of his career. I also saw mention of 'One Size Fits All' and 'Apostrophe' which are two of my other favorites. "Apostrophe' because it was my first and 'One Size Fits All' because of the guitar solo on 'Inca Roads'. We also can't forget 'Overnight Sensation'. There are so many great FZ albums. Maybe the thread should be 'What are your top 5 FZ albums'. - c At 09:39 AM 5/28/03 +0200, Irene McC wrote:

How about Sheik Yerbouti? I Have Been in You and Bobby Brown have some of my favorite FZ lyrics ever. And then there is a nice whole-tone flavored guitar solo on the Sheik Yerbouti tango. -Aaron ----- Original Message ----- From: cjw <cjw333@earthlink.net> Date: Wednesday, May 28, 2003 10:31 am Subject: Re: [idm] zappa

I'd have to say Apostrophe', the original version of Cruising With Ruben and The Jets & Hot Rats are his best. The Grand Wazoo and We're Only In It For The Money are pretty great too. someone needs to rerecord all his old classical synth stuff on modern gear, the music is great but that old synthclavier sounds so crap! he should have used a Moog or something. ...skism --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
