Well we're working damn hard to make a scene here too. for 3 years we've run with out EVER making a profit. Suddenly we're making a little (I made a big $12.00 off Otto and Dino) profit. Frankly I find the ebay notices annoying, but the list of shows elsewhere fun and the discussions to be the real high light of the list. Aside from that, most of the places that booked Funkstorung wouldn't have known about it had Ralf not posted to the idm list. Please keep at least me up on what your doing in Cleveland. There's a lot of stuff that's come out of there although little electronica wise. - A

Speaking of which, I don't know if anyone else has noticed but Cex is starting up another tour. The first show is in Baltimore, at his old haunt the Ottobar. Next Thursday, the 29th o' may. One of the opening acts is Prince Charming Chaz, who "raps in spite of the beat." I'll be there. derek -- eggytoast.com - eggtastic.com ------ it's in your grocer's freezer --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

heh, yes it's a joke. people need to know what's going on in other places, because it seems a bit of us are promoters and musicians who promote, so networking between one another is grand in my book. hyperreal.org should really change the TOS though, because after my post i looked and read the terms and it said something about no spamming shows. ok, no spamming, then how do we find out how to get "so and so" artist to MY town, eh? sheer mindpower alone? no! and yes andrew, the ebay posts are pretty annoying. ----- Original Message ----- From: "john tuffen" <john@namke.com> To: "matt" <matthew@tech-elements.com> Cc: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Thursday, May 22, 2003 5:52 AM Subject: Re: [idm] spam?

Correction : IDM-l protocol has always allowed for For Sale and For Auction lists. I have a saved email from Teep dating back about 6 years to prove it :-) Max. 25 lines, note in the subject header and no repeat posts covering the same items - those are the rules. jeff --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Dear Matt. I'm so sorry to hear that the entire 'Intelligent Dance Music' scene in Cleveland, OH is on your shoulders. It must be a daunting prospect to singlehandedly run a local music scene of such proportions. I appreciate that you would have issues with others discussing their local scenes and connecting with others into similar things for the good of an under-represented musical form. i'm sure the majority of subscribers to this global mailing list that are not based in Cleveland, OH, will be only too happy to cease and desist their posting so as not to interfere with your efforts in nurturing the emergent Cleveland, OH 'Intelligent Dance Music' scene. I also look forward to hearing all about the progress you're making with your local scene, just in case I find myself in Cleveland, OH one day. Perhaps we could even do a show there. the very best of british luck. 'twas unsolicited, 't was mass, but somehow it struck a chord with me so I don't quite file it under SPAM. Must be a british thing. Did you hear about the House Of Lords [British version of the, um, what is that American thing where a bunch of aging aristocrats that think they have control over their country ... the senate?] point of view on spam: http://www.parliament.the-stationery-office.co.uk/pa/ld199900/ldhansrd/pdvn/ lds03/text/30506-03.htm#30506-03_star0 Fears that government may not have a finger on the pulse of modern technology were exposed in the House of Lords on Wednesday, as some Lords debated unsolicited spam email, while others discussed the tinned meat of the same name. Lord Sainsbury headed the debate into draft regulations for the limitation of spam and may have muddied the waters somewhat, given his past as a supermarket baron. However, confusion with the tinned meat appeared to be a genuine obstacle to serious discussion for some Lords in attendance. Lord Renton asked: "Will the Minister explain how it is that an inedible tinned food can become an unsolicited email, bearing in mind that some of us wish to be protected from having an email?" Life imitates Chris Morris. _muff._ xo on 22/5/03 10:29 pm the person going by the name Dom Green at dom_green@lineone.net spake :
