I thought I'd take this opportunity to express my profound shock and disgust at the soundtrack used for the new Matrix movie. Juno Reactor? Oakenfold? Oakenfold remixing Dave Matthews? Geez. I thought this was a movie about technology, future, possibilities, etc. Jason Bentley managed to put together a soundtrack that ranks up there with Mortal Kombat's in the bad-factor, IMO. I left the theatre thinking about how Blade Runner continues to be unmatched when it comes to future dystopias *and* marvelling at how Vangelis' score to Blade Runner continues to be timeless and futuristic after 15+ years. Here's to hoping that Madonna either gives up her association with Jason Bentley (the SDTK is released on Maverick, which at least would explain the Oakenfold connection; Don Davis scored again, but Bentley is the one we can "thank" for the rest) or that Bentley works a bit harder on coming up with something futuristic. Again, I say: Juno Reactor? Dave Matthews? Urgh. End of rant. Morvern Callar is quite good. New Lyne Ramsey film the woman who did ratcatcher. Kinda Jon Jost/ robert frank/ jonas mekas type of stuff. very improvised feel. soundtrack on warp of course so you don't have to complain. how many people don't like the matrix in general? I thought it was going to be William Gibson in scope, instead it was just hack-pomo IMHO. It's funny, that entering the matrix sound, ya know that kinda organic drone can be replicated in super collider. would be somewhat surprising if the sound effects crew for matrix used that to build sounds. - a On Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at 12:17 AM, DJSTiK420@aol.com wrote:

The three colors trilogy was recently released as a set on DVD. If you haven't seen them, I personally think they're worth picking up. wonderful cinematography, fantastic uses of music (and good music at that) , and good stories to boot. -- eggytoast.com - eggtastic.com ------ it's in your grocer's freezer --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Missed it in the theater in both Fort Worth *AND* Dallas, so I get t owait for the DVD. Cowboy Pictures will of course take their sweet time with it and make sure it's very expensive. But I finally get to see All About Lily Chou Chou next Wednesday at the Asian Film Fest. And I managed to catch All The Real Girls during the two weeks it was showing. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
