Err, that's my desktop size, but, see, I keep my desktop at that size so that things never need to go fullscreen. Most of my windows stay around the 1000x700 (or whatever odd thing it ends up being) size, because they're layered.

never. If they require a site to be at a resolution, they should include window-resize code in order to force-resize the window upon loading (relatively easy with javascript). Usually the resizes I've seen involve specific sizes within the 800x600 "standard." Unless you're doing very large graphics or really esoteric layouts, I can't imagine the page looks better gigantic compared to split up and chopped down to accomodate lower resolutions.

Well, I would, except I like talking about stuff like this :D If you really can't get it smaller, chop your resolution down to about 640x480 and *then* try working with your page. If I was on a 13" monitor (some people still have 'em, you know. I have a 14" at home that I use), I'd laugh at your resize suggestions and close the window. For example, I can't stand using the record camp website because of it's insane layout. It's huge! It goes horizontally for about a mile, which wouldn't be so bad if that was a design decision. But then they decided to make each column go "as long as necessary," causing it to be some gigantic square-shaped page! I can't use that. It comes across as bad design, as design involves not only doing what you need to do to present the information, but also ensuring that the people using that information can use it in the best possible way. Screen stuffing is not the best possible way. -- eggytoast.com - eggtastic.com ------ it's in your grocer's freezer --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
