Just wondering if anybody else is into Markant's stuff? He rarely seems to get a mention but is one of the most prolific and collectable electronic artists around at the moment. I think a lot of people write him off as being too samey because he released so much stuff in such a short period of time (nearly 30 releases in 3 or 4 years!), but how many other artists have set up their own label to exclusively release so much of their own material? As for his material, I think for the main part it stands up well beside the likes of Toytronic, Spezialmaterial, AI Records, Expanding etc. etc., and there is a fairly diverse range of sounds to be found on his releases if you listen to 'em all. And with each release limited to 100-300 copies, he's got that all important collectability tag aswell. So, am I the only fan out there? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

---skipped--- "vice versa" was excellent and so was "infam", as the rest of the limited vinyl stuff i could get my hands on. however, according to him, he might not be producing anymore, due to the distibution problems. send him an email and cheer him up, if you are a fan :) btw, a number of markant releases reviewed on "seven" over the years. -- anton seven.editor http://www.nezzwerk.com/seven icq://2623520 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I have Markant 1, and it's the only thing I've heard from the guy. it's good, sort of a weird mishmash of stuff that works pretty well. I think the low availability of a lot of his older releases, though, probably did more to hurt his overall popularity, as it's only been recently that it's been widely available, and I believe most people on the list mentioned that the older stuff was a little fresher-sounding. derek -- eggytoast.com - eggtastic.com ------ catchy signature coming soon --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
