Hey guys... New to the list...Been a big IDM fan for ages though it seems to have gotten me shunned amongst my friends (to 'techno'ey, for my drum'n'bass friends, and to many breaks from my techey friends) I seem to be the only person who is actually spinning IDM in my whole state (never ever heard a set off anything at all coming close to it) Im a bit of a lover of the breakstep/cut up's style stuff.... Particularly Richard D. James (in his various guises) Tom Jenkinson (in his various guises) Luke Vibert (also in his various guises) et al I was wondering if there are any other types of producers like these? I like the whole ambient music genre, but its not the kind of stuff i like to spin. I like fast, insane, acidy, broken up and abstracted beats. So please gimme some new artists to look out for. P.S. I found this record by Arvid Roloff...its quite cool....im playing it at 45....but i think its meant to be played at 33....its called Safety Systems? Anyone have it? Know if hes released anything new? Well thats my spiel Cheers dj_conduit _________________________________________________________________ Hotmail now available on Australian mobile phones. hundreds, all with similarities but never really capturing the same sound. You also picked out 3 artists who have been all over the map in regards to what they've released. They don't really have a particular "sound" because of that, so giving recommendations are difficult. So, to help us help you, we need more info. If that's all you have, what albums or tracks are you liking that you're looking to expand your collection into? The easy response is "look at what came out on the major labels (warp, ninjatune, some other guys) 5-7 years ago -- that's pretty similar." -- eggytoast.com - eggtastic.com ------ catchy signature coming soon --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Well I guess I mean stuff that has an abstracted beat....something that starts out simple....and gets more and more intricate. ie: Squarepusher: Do u know squarepusher? AFX: everything he has released i have liked but in particular Girl/Boy ad the MAN1 remixes stuff like that. Very electronicy sounding. I have heard of...but never heard Kid606 and the Venetian Snares...are they like this? Also any other peoples of replex/warp in these vein? Plus other labels i could look at?
