I will reiterate that my argument was that buying vinyl was not valid
for *me* as a listener.
It is not the same argument because you are taking the comment
completely out of context.
No, just because I don't buy vinyl doesn't mean I don't support the
music industry, believe that music should be free, not vote Democratic
because I am a Socialist, believe there is a God, torture small cildren
or support terrorism. Just for the record I thought I will make that
disclaimer before someone else manages to stretch the comment out even
thinner than it already is.
It is very simple: I don't buy vinyl because it is antiquated
(relatively, to me) and is not transport-friendly when it comes to
hauling a fuckload of records around to hear a few choice tracks when I
can just rip the cd/download/etc.onto mp3 and just listen to music.

D,
are you talking about the world population as a whole,
or even the US pop.? Since when did that large of an
audience take a micro-sub-mini-genre like IDM into
account? Pressing records is still completely
valid--if one is aiming at a market that still
considers vinyl a supportable medium (most electronic
music listeners). The "limitations of the technology"
might be exactly why someone chooses to buy the vinyl
over equally/lower priced cd format. I mean, why use
old synthesizers?--the technology is definitely
outdated. Similar argument.
