Tube Jerk rules. He just put out a double pack on Sativae called "Shift" - very nice. Haven't heard the Novamute stuff yet, I'm honestly suprised somebody didn't jump on his shit earlier. He's also in a band (if I'm not mistaken) called Sand - really heavy, dark, medium tempo rock with some of the craziest, most distorted bass sounds I've heard (for a "rock band") in a long time. oh yeah, I think he did some remixes of a Radioactive Man track for RGC - weird 2-stepish kinda stuff, if I remember correctly.. chris ----- Original Message ----- From: "William Samuels" <w_technoir@yahoo.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Friday, January 31, 2003 7:45 PM Subject: [idm] Tim Wright / Tube Jerk

I just have to say that I really dig the new Godspeed You! Black Emperor "Yanqui U.X.O.". What I heard of their past material didn't excite me much. Is it me, or is this new album the best thing they have done? Perhaps I need to clean my ears and go back to their past efforts? I remember the older material had a lot field recordings and spoken-word snippets and it didn't really move me that much I also recently check out Exhaust - "Enregistreur", and there are a few tracks that are really cool. What's the 1-Speed Bike "Droopy Butt Begone" release sound like? I'm looking for material more on the edgier noisy side of things, but still very listenable. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Sign up now

i really enjoy "yanqui u.x.o." as well.. it's very heavy on the percussion and guitars, though. the voice samples were kind of tacky (in a front line assembly sort of way) on their older releases, and i was really happy that they were left off of y uxo. "sleep" and "storm" from "raise your skinny fists.." might interest you if you didn't like the field recordings from their past albums. actually, all of "raise your skinny fists.." sounds more mature and cohesive than their first two releases, so check out the whole album. - sean _______________________________________________________________________ Sent via Pace University's WebMail system at stmail.pace.edu --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
